Phase Change Material

Cryo and Calor

PCM stands for Phase Change Material, and it refers to substances that can undergo a change in their physical state, typically from a solid to a liquid or vice versa, in response to changes in temperature. When it comes to cold PCM, these materials are specifically designed to absorb and release thermal energy during the phase change, helping to regulate temperatures in various applications, including cooling systems.

Phase Change Process:

  • Cold PCMs absorb heat from their surroundings as they change from a solid to a liquid state.

  • The absorbed heat is stored in the material as latent heat.

  • When the ambient temperature decreases, the PCM solidifies again, releasing the stored heat.
